General Information
Enrolment Procedures
Enrolment Form - All parents/caregivers will be asked to complete an enrolment form for their children, giving details of emergency phone numbers and medical problems. Phone numbers may be used by the BOT or the PTA.
Parents will also be informed of the discipline policy and procedures and asked to sign an internet use agreement.
School Donation - $30 per term, or $100 per year if paid in Term 1. There is a reduced rate for those with more than one child at school. Please ask a member of staff or the BOT. Your donation is appreciated and if you would like to spread this over the year please speak to Gail at the office. This year the Board of Trustees has allocated this money to the purchase of curriculum resources.
No Uniform - Clothing that is comfortable, warm and named is fine.
School hats are compulsory in the two summer terms and are available through the school office.
Stationery - is generally obtained at the beginning of the school year. Each classroom teacher has a system which works well for them, so they will let you know your child's stationery needs. The school endeavors to keep costs very reasonable.
Technology Classes
Year 7 and 8 students travel to Moerewa School for a whole day once a week for two terms. There they join with students from other schools and are taught by a specialist teacher in a purpose built environment with appropriate resources.
CELL PHONES
Children are not permitted to use cell phones at school. The school phone is made available if children need to contact parents during school hours. If a cell phone is brought to school for after school use then it must be kept in the principal’s office until school is over for the day.
Discipline
We have school rules based on RESPECT (for others, for your environment, for yourself).
Reports
An informal “get to know the teachers etc.” event is held early in Term 1, followed closely by an invitation to parents to attend individual three-way goal setting interviews between the child's teacher, the child and the parent/s. Arrangements for these are made with the class teachers. A written record of these conversations will be given to parents/ caregivers to share with other family members and as a record to monitor progress. A follow up 3-way dialogue will be held at the beginning of term three to review goals and set new ones. Written reports are issued at the end of each year. However, queries regarding a child/children can be answered at any suitable time after school, by prior arrangement with the teacher concerned.
Newsletters
A weekly newsletter is published on Fridays. They are printed on yellow paper and numbered sequentially, so you will know if you have missed any. They are also published on this website. There is limited space for community or personal items.
Pie Days
Every Friday, the PTA sell lunches, as a fundraiser. The menu changes from time to time so check at the office for current avalibility and prices. Please place order and correct money in a named envelope and hand in at the lunchroom.
