Tracey Smith

Principal

Tracey is an experienced Principal,  Teacher  and School Management Advisor who over the past 30 years  has worked in a variety of schools both in New Zealand and internationally in the UAE, Indonesia and Vietnam.  She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Oromahoe School. Tracey has been instrumental in driving a range of exciting projects around the school to benefit academic achievement and student learning environments.

Kathy Proebstel

Deputy Principal 

Returning to the north in 2017 to live and work, Kathy came to Oromahoe mid 2019.  Originally trained in supporting children with special needs, she then went on to mainstream teaching and learning.  She encourages collaboration with tamariki to develop learner agency, and values whanau being involved in supporting the well-being and achievement of their tamariki at school. Kathy has a passion and broad experience in Education Outside the Classroom.

Fhiona Wainwright

Phase 3 Team Leader

Year 7-8 Classroom Teacher

Fhiona is an experienced teacher, who has taught in schools both in the UK and in New Zealand. Fhiona is  passionate about sustainability and the environment alongside developing children’s creativity,  sports skills, science skills and the performing arts. Fhiona has directed many productions, singing groups and bands and coached many sports teams in netball, basketball and even rugby!  Underpinning everything is her strong belief that building relationships (Whanaungatanga) is at the essence of everything within a school.

Charlotte Tucker

Year 5-6 Classroom Teacher

Born in Vancouver, and growing up in the United Kingdom, Charlotte moved to New Zealand in 2007. She began her teaching career in South Auckland before heading to the Waikato where she met her husband. Recently Charlotte returned to Northland with her husband, Ryan and two children. Her passion for teaching involves creativity, collaboration, Reading and Mathematics, and at the core of everything is relationships/whanaungatanga.

Joseph Lickness

Year 3-4 Classroom Teacher

Originally from Iowa in the USA, Joseph served in the US Navy before gaining qualifications in a range of Outdoor Persuits including Wildnerness Medicine and Rescue.  Joseph has lived in New Zealand since 2016  and worked as a Kayak guide  in the Milford Sound before completing a Post Grad Diploma in Teaching  2021.

Angela Brewer

Angela joined Oromahoe School in 2023.  She is an experienced teacher who has taught locally in both Early Childhood Centres and Primary Schools.  Angela has a passion for learning through inquiry and enjoys fostering authentic student agency in her classroom.

Michelle joined Oromahoe School in 2017. Prior to teaching at Oromahoe School Michelle worked with students with special needs in a variety of schools. She is passionate about teaching in the junior school, and making the transition from early childhood education to primary as seamless as possible. Michelle brings diverse experience to her role as a classroom teacher. She is  a mother of four, and comes from a large  local whanau.

Lexie Pieters

Lexie is an experienced teacher who has taught both locally and internationally.  She is passionate about student achievement and guiding children to  take ownership of their learning.  Lexie is dedicated to running a robust  literacy programme and is undertaking training in Structured Literacy to coach and support others. The use of technology in her classroom compliments her programme with the belief that learning is achieved on a variety of platforms.
